I'm a constellation cowboy, I roam the galaxy (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
A cowboy astronaut I'm saddled on my horse, Astronomy (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
I search the universe, through outer space, I'm goin' far
To find my lucky star (wander yonder past the atmosphere)

I yoddle eedle adle eedle ladle a ay across the Milky Way (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
It takes one hundred thousand light years to cross that spiral out in space (wander yonder past the
atmosphere)
At ninety three million miles, there's a star, the closest one
I'm headin' out to the sun (wander yonder past the atmosphere)

Then I went to the Big Dipper, Great Bear in the northern sky (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
They call it Ursa Major, it's not so hard for me to find (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
I ramble through Orion, Ursa Minor, not so far
Has Polaris, the North Star (wander yonder past the atmosphere)

I looked at Sirius the Dog Star, the brightest star I see
Galloped cross the galaxy to Alpha Centauri
Every star is a sun, burns hydrogen and helium
At millions of degrees, I wonder what they will become
Maybe a Red Giant, White Dwarf, Supergiants, may explode
Passin' over a Super Nova Yee ahhh
It makes a Pulsar, they are dense, spinning neutron stars
Giddyup, save my soul, jumping over a black hole
I can lasso that ol' Draco, a dragon close to Hercules (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
I'm chasin' Haleys Comet through cloudy Nebulae (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
I wrangle meteors, stop a shooting star stampede
Then head onto the Pleiades (wander yonder past the atmosphere)

I'm a constellation cowboy underneath that starry sky (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
A sextant in my holster and telescope up to my eye (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
It was then I realized every star that I could see
Was shining out for me (wander yonder past the atmosphere)
And I thank my lucky stars all across the galaxy, oh lucky me
Giddyup Astronomy

On to Taurus, Sagittarius
On to Libra and Aquarius
Pisces, Aries, Scorpio
Capricorn and Virgo, Leo
On to Cancer, Gemini
Got a twinkle in my eye
